The foundations of great teams are created by unassuming players.
Dependable and loyal players, players who give their all, match in match out, level headed players, reliable, hard-working players. Not often in the headlines – but that’s fine by them, these special players are in it for the pleasure of the game and to reward the support of the fans.
Peter (Bucko) Buxton is one of these players, from his early days in Cheltenham, through Newport Gwent Dragons and back to Gloucester, Bucko has just ‘go on with the game’ – digging in and kicking out as reliable as clockwork – and this is why we, (the committee) are taking matters in hand and creating a Celebration Year for Bucko.
Bucko just isn’t one of those types to blow his own trumpet (which is why he’s recognised as the fans type of player), but he does care deeply about organisations that help others and doing all that he can to help them. Two charities that he is keen to support are Winston’s Wish and The Wooden Spoon and these will be the beneficiaries of the Celebration year.
